Bells and ringers of St Mary's church

The Bells of St. Mary's

We have just heard of the death of Ivan Saunders,
our tower captain for many years.

Earlier this evening - 4th April 2020 Rev. Tony Shutt tolled a bell 82 times -
once for each year of Ivan's life.
May he rest in peace.

St Mary's Church Send has a ring of 6 bells cast in Croydon in 1947 by Gillett & Johnston,
and installed in the tower in February 1948.
We are pleased to welcome visiting ringers.

The video below shows the first day of a refurbishment of the bell chamber in 2018

The traditional English art of change ringing is practised and performed regularly at St Mary's - and bells can be rung to celebrate weddings.
